Ethical Leadership Perceptions of Sports Experts Working in Youth And Sports Provincial Directorates With Innovation Orientation Investigation of the Relationship Between Leisure Time Barriers

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between perceived ethical leadership, innovation orientation, and leisure constraints among sports specialists working in Provincial Directorates of Youth and Sports. The study population consists of sports specialists working in provincial directorates located in the Mediterranean Region, while the sample group includes 141 active sports specialists 37 women and 104 men serving in the provinces of Isparta, Burdur, Antalya, and Mersin. For data collection, the researcher employed a Personal Information Form developed for this study, along with the Perceived Ethical Leadership Scale, Innovation Orientation Scale, and Leisure Constraints Scale. Variance and homogeneity tests were conducted on the data, and the results confirmed homogeneity. Arithmetic means and standard deviations were calculated for participants’ scores on each scale, and Pearson product-moment correlation analysis was used to examine the relationships between the scale scores. A significance level of p < .01 and p < .05 was adopted for statistical analysis and interpretation. The internal consistency (Cronbach’s Alpha) values were found to be 0.96 for the Perceived Ethical Leadership Scale, 0.93 for the Innovation Orientation Scale, and 0.80 for the Leisure Constraints Scale. The results of the study revealed a neutral (non-significant) correlation between innovation orientation, perceived ethical leadership, and leisure constraints. However, significant positive correlations were found between the sub-dimensions of perceived ethical leadership and those of leisure constraints. These findings suggest that while sports specialists have developed a strong perception of ethical leadership and the ability to manage leisure constraints, they may be lacking in innovation orientation.
